Like many West Virginia quiltmakers, Sally Rowe has enjoyed the rich heritage of traditional quiltmaking in Appalachia and always felt a strong connection to it through her family of quiltmakers.
This native West Virginian lives on a farm in Ripley, WV, where she opens her studio to visiters by appointment. Sally received a B.A. in Art from The University of Charleston and has studied with many well-known textile artists to expand her skills. She has taught art part-time in public schools and quilting and banner-making classes to adults. She is available for teaching workshops in Watercolor Quilt Design Techniques and currently lectures about Color Choices in Quilting and The Art Quilt.
Sally’s work has been included in many area art shows such
as the West Virginia Juried Exhibition, The Ohio Liturgical Art Guild International, The Tamarack Gallery and the WV Artists and Craftmens Guild Juried Competition. Her quilts have shown nationally at The International Quilt Festival at Houston, Texas, The Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in Virginia and the Ashville Quilters Show in North Carolina.
Her quilts can be found in many private art collections and can also be seen in the reception offices of Senator Jay Rockefeller in Washington, DC, at West Virginia University and at the Century Aluminum Company offices.
Sally’s quilts have been published in Quilting Today Magazine, Issue #95,2003, and in QuiltersNewsletter Magazine, August, 2001.
Sally specializes in scenic art quilts. These one-of-a-kind quilts are created for exhibition and for sale and can be made to suit most space and color needs for both home and corporate settings.
